Retail Sales Associate Employment Opportunity

Feet For Life is always looking for permanent full-time or part-time commissioned Retail Sales Associates in Visalia and Bakersfield, CA. We are seeking well-groomed, outgoing, energetic, and motivated individuals with exceptional personalities. A background in retail sales, preferably in shoes or service industries, is strongly preferred.
Job Summary:
The shoe salesperson must have a passion for the footwear and fashion industry, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to drive sales. This role involves assisting customers in finding the perfect shoes and shoe care products and handling transactions.
Qualified applicants must be available during mall hours, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers in selecting the proper shoes based on their needs, preferences, and style.
- Provide expert knowledge on shoe brands, styles, fit, and care instructions.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction through excellent service and a positive shopping experience.
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing sales floor and display areas.
- Process all transactions using the store’s POS system, handle cash and credit card payments.
- Meet or exceed sales targets and contribute to overall store performance.
- Stay up to date with new arrivals, promotions, and store policies.
- Handle customer inquiries, exchanges, and returns professionally.
- Work as part of a team to achieve store goals and maintain a positive work environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized sales floor, stockroom, and break area.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and 100% access to secure & reliable transportation.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English at a proficient level.
- Ability to speak Spanish is not required, but is a plus.
- Must have basic math, spelling, and grammar skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate product features & benefits.
- Ability to handle multiple operational duties, including checking in new orders and running shoes in stock in proper order by size and width.
- Intermediate computer skills and the ability to use a POS system and enter customer information correctly.
- Wear proper attire and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Friendly, outgoing, and customer-focused attitude.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple customers at once.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
- Frequent reaching, bending, and kneeling to assist customers and organize inventory.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move shoe boxes and stock items (up to 30 lbs).
- Comfortable working in a retail environment with varying temperatures.
- Must be able to climb a step stool.
- Must be able to easily get down and up to measure feet, try shoes on customers, and check shoes on the bottom row of the stock room.
- Must be able to lock and unlock doors, clean floors, and displays.
